Celebrity Hunted sees a group of famous faces attempt to go undercover as they go on the run for eight days. Meanwhile, intelligence officers across the country are tasked with attempting to find them using CCTV, call tracing and social media.
But while it sounds easy to go incognito, the stars are faced with tasks of putting themself in clear vision, all while still attempting to go unrecognised. Viewers at home may question the celeb's decisions to put themselves out there but one former contestant has revealed all is not as it seems.
Speaking to the Mirror, Saffron Barker who appeared in series five claimed she thought the show was set up. The YouTube sensation admits he was left stunned upon realising that this wasn't the case. Discussing her time on the show, Saffron said: "The show opened my eyes up, I felt when I left the show, I was a different person but in a good way.
"You go through so much that you don't see on TV, they don't show the hard bits where you're really struggling and when people close doors on your face. They don't show half of it because it's got to be entertaining. The faith that it gave me in humanity was just crazy after this show. It was crazy, it made me realise I'm tough than I probably thought I was."
The 23-year-old continued: "I had to camp out alone some nights and this is outside of my comfort zone, I had to go knock on somebody's door and ask to stay in their house when I was alone – it gets to a point where you have to do it. It made me a lot more confident as a person." But when signing up for the show, Saffron believed that things would be set up purely for entertainment.
She said: "When I first got the show, I thought it was gonna be really fake, I loved the show and I watch it religiously. When I first got it, I was like 'OK, what's actually legit?' and they were like 'Everything' and I thought it can't be. The thing with the celebrity one is they have to show a lot more of like, the entertaining side of it.
"The thing is on the show, there are certain things you have to attend an event or do certain things to make the show entertaining and it also makes it so much harder for you – you can't just camp in the wild for a week! As a viewer, I used to think 'Well why don't you just stay in the woods?' But you can't.
"The whole eight days you're there, you've got to attend an event, or a work thing, or something like that – there are different options - they're not like 'You have to do this'." Saffron recently launched her second edit with jewellery brand Abbot Lyon, a year after her first collection was a hit.
Discussing her edit, she said: "I love the brand so when they reached out to me, the collection did so well so they wanted to do another one. I absolutely jumped for it, I love jewellery. Honestly, I think it's one of my favourite things to actually spend money on because I genuinely feel like you could wear the most boring outfit and if you have nice jewellery you can look put together."
But while the edit may be Saffron's her mum Wendy and her gran had a huge part in the collection as she explained: "They love and we've all got matching clover necklaces which is one of the statement pieces in the collection." The full collection is now available at https://www.abbottlyon.com.
